Crossing into Tibet, travelers acclimatize at Taklakot before visiting the sacred Lake Mansarovar, known for its spiritual significance. The highlight is the 3-day trek around Mount Kailash, believed to cleanse sins and bring enlightenment. Pilgrims experience awe-inspiring landscapes, high-altitude challenges, and cultural immersion. The Yatra concludes in Kathmandu after retracing the route via Simikot and Nepalgunj. An unforgettable journey of faith and self-discovery awaits.
The travel begins with reaching Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport. Max Holidays has representative at the airport to assist them in getting into their hotel, and then there is a overnight stay at your hotel.
Eat breakfast at your hotel then proceed to see the world- famous Pashupatinath Temple, Jal Narayan Temple, and Guheshwari Temple. Then, after that, your agent will send the group of tourists to domestic airport terminal to catch their onward flight to Nepalgunj. Land at Nepalgunj after one-hour flight and from there, you will board a bus for your hotel booking. You meet fellow travellers with whom you would share this trip. They travelled all the way from Lucknow to be part of this group. In the evening, the party would receive briefing, where our guide and knowledgeable Kailash Yatra guide will share his knowledge and clarify questions you might have about visited Kailash Mansarovar. Nightly and dinner in the Nepalgunj hotel.
Since all of those tiny airplanes depend completely on the weather to operate, one of the more difficult portions of this itinerary is the flight from Nepalgunj to Simikot. The weather patterns across this leg change constantly; hence, occasionally short or even prolonged delays arise during flight schedules both to and from Simikot. We will be at Nepalgunj airport very early in the morning for the earliest flight to Simikot as instructed by our local guide. Our representative will be waiting for you, including taking you to the guesthouse reserved for you, right from the time of landing of this 45-min aircraft into Simikot's little airport. Our representative will make reservations for check-in luggage with the airline; he shall also organize for delivery of your luggage to your lodging in Simikot. They shall spend a few days in Simikot as they acclimate themselves to the weather.
Arrive at Simikot airport early for breakfast (or bring food) so you can catch your helicopter to Hilsa. We must cross the river at Hilsa via the swinging bridge in order to go to the other side, where we will be completing the necessary paperwork at Nepal immigration. After that, we walk across the border and get on a Chinese bus that will take us to the Chinese immigration office, which is only a five-minute drive away. You may reach your hotel in Taklakot after a quick 22-kilometer journey. We must undergo another customs inspection at the Burang custom office before to arriving in Taklakot. You arrived at Taklakot, which is 4025 meters above sea level, after a long day. Please do not panic if you have signs of mountain sickness, such as dyspnea, and ask our guide for additional advice. Here, complaints of high altitude sickness are fairly common. Take measures against stormy winds, follow your specific guide's instructions, and make sure you consume the right foods and a lot of potable water and juices. Spend some time getting used to the hotel. The hotel in Taklakot is where we will stay and have dinner.
On this day, acclimatization will take place here. Stay at your hotel and rest at Taklakot instead of attempting to do anything else. You can also take a quick stroll outside to enjoy the local markets. There are stores at Taklakot market where anyone can buy items for the journey, such as sticks, gloves, a cap or headgear, shoes, empty water bottles, fruits, etc. If you wish to attend the market, please plan your itinerary appropriately because the stores close by the time it gets dark.
Today is a very significant day because we are traveling to Lake Manasarovar, the holiest place on earth. Get on the bus and head to Lake Mansarovar after breakfast. Lake Rakshas Taal, which is located close to Lake Mansarovar, may be reached after nearly an hour and a half of driving through stunning mountains and landscapes. The 'Lake of Demons' or 'Ravan Taal' are other names for Rakashs Taal. You can catch a sight of Mount Kailash from here, towering over the other neighboring mountains. Before continuing on to Lake Mansarovar, we will pause here at Rakshas Taal to take in the splendor of the natural world with our cameras. We travel a little distance to spend the night in Chui Gompa, which is close to Lake Mansarovar. The remaining hour is yours to take in the splendor of Mansarovar Lake, the holy bath, the riverbank rituals and prayers, and any other personal pursuits. On the lakeshore, we will set up a shower tent for the women. You will locate a suitable location for puja/havan and ritual performance in accordance with your tradition close to the lake. The guesthouse will provide meals and an overnight stay.
Early this morning, we get up, change, and go to Darchen, which is about 35 kilometers from Chiu Gompa. The Kailash region's primary administrative hub, Darchen, has very little in the way of facilities and infrastructure. Actually, another name for Darchen is the Mt. Kailash base camp. The process of walking around Mount Kailash starts here. Keep your snack packet that our staff prepared in the morning with you, and remember to refill your bottle with hot water. The walk itself begins with a chance for all pilgrims to pass Yama Dwar. Yam Dwar is crossed, and then the journey continues on foot or by horse and pony. With the Tibetan guide's assistance, anyone wishing to hire a horse, pony, and porter can do so directly and pay for it. They will receive a name coupon, from which they can select the horse and porter who will accompany him for the entire journey. Following a steady 12-kilometer hike past some picturesque rivers and grasslands, you will come to a massive, majestic, black-colored mountain that rises majestically to your right. This is Mount Kailash's North Face. Remember to take some selfies and photos so you can document this amazing vista with your camera and eyes. You will arrive at Dirapuk by checking into the guesthouse, where you will spend the night and have dinner planned. To maintain your health for the walk the following day, you should get as much rest as you can because the night will be extremely cold and the oxygen level will be low.
Do not miss the splendor of 'Golden Kailash' when the first rays of sunshine kiss the top of the mount if the weather permits. Get up well before dawn. Following this life-changing event, it's time to proceed and begin our journey to Zuthulpuk. The 22-kilometer journey is the longest and most difficult of the entire Yatra, requiring you to cross the highest point at Dolma La Pass (5630m). The footprints of Milarepa and Shiva Tsal can be seen at the location where pilgrims leave their possessions and drop a single hair or a small amount of blood from their head. It denotes the desire to quit a life of misery and the act of leaving this one behind. According to the Tibetan Buddhist faith, you will be given this specific item or items in heaven once you pass away. Proceed to ascend to Dolma-La Pass (5630m), after which descend steeply to arrive at Gauri Kund. As soon as possible, before a strong wind begins, we should cross the high pass.
Gauri Kund, sometimes called Parvati Kund, is located on the right side of your trail, downhill, after you cross Dolma-La. After a time of strolling down, we'll stop by a tea stall for a packed lunch. We must walk extremely carefully and stay with the group for any assistance we may need because the downward trail from the summit of Dolma La is difficult owing to the loose and stony stones everywhere. Following that, a level path will soon lead to Zuthulphuk Gompa, which is 4790 meters above sea level. We will be lodging at the lodge or a permanent tent at Zuthulphuk, complete with a bed, bed sheet, and cozy blanket. After a quick dinner, we'll head to a comfortable bed to unwind.
Breakfast is provided close to the camp/guesthouse, and mornings are spent exploring the caves and touring the nearby temples and shrines. An elderly married couple is in charge of overseeing the temple here. More than six Tibetan devotees, servants, or family members live at the temple and keep themselves occupied with building maintenance. There are additional meditation platforms in the cave. It is worthwhile to go to these caverns in order to complete the last leg of the Holy Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. After walking around 6 miles from Zuthulpuk, we will arrive at Chongdo, where our cars will be waiting for us. The remaining members of our group, who did not undertake the trek or returned from Dirapuk, will be waiting for us at the Darchen hotel, which is another 06 km drive away. Drive on to Taklakot to spend the night there.
Drive 45 kilometers toward the China-Nepal border after an early breakfast. Walk across the border and arrive at the Hilsa, Nepal side after completing the necessary immigration procedures. After a 25-minute helicopter ride to Simikot, catch a flight to Nepalgunj. Once in Nepalgunj, take a further flight to Kathmandu.
In the evening, you will be taken to Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport in order to depart for your respective flight back to your hotel or next destination. To avoid unwarranted delay in the trip, we always recommend the visitors to book their return flight from Kathmandu to their place of residence one or two days in advance.
