Itinerary of Chardham tour package with Kedarnath stay

Day 01: Haridwar – Barkot (210kms/7-8hr) | Height: 1352 MTS

Your journey begins in Haridwar, where you'll be picked up and driven to Barkot. En route, you’ll pass through picturesque landscapes and visit the serene Prakateshwar Mahadev Temple. Barkot is a quaint hill station nestled in the lap of the Himalayas. On arrival, check into the hotel and spend the evening relaxing or taking a stroll around the town to acclimate to the higher altitude.

Barkot Weather: Pleasant in summer with temperatures between 25°C to 30°C, but cold in winter with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 5°C.

Day 02: Yamunotri – Barkot | 36kms drive & 6kms trek (one side) | Height: 3235 MTS

Wake up early and enjoy a hearty breakfast before setting out for Jankichatti/Phoolchatti, the base from where your 6 km trek to Yamunotri begins. You can either trek on foot, hire a pony, or take a palanquin (doli) at your own expense. The trek takes you through beautiful forests, streams, and rugged terrain. Upon reaching Yamunotri, take a holy dip in the warm waters of Jamunabai Kund, which is believed to have healing powers. Visit the Yamunotri Temple dedicated to Goddess Yamuna and seek blessings. After exploring the nearby Divya Shila and Jamunabai Kund, trek back to Jankichatti and return to Barkot.

Yamunotri Weather: During summer, temperatures range from 10°C to 18°C, with pleasant days and cold nights.

Day 03: Barkot – Uttarkashi (100kms/4hr) | Height: 1352 MTS

After breakfast, proceed towards Uttarkashi. The drive takes about four hours through scenic valleys and mountain passes. Uttarkashi is known for its spiritual ambiance, as it is home to many ashrams and temples. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and relax. In the evening, visit the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple, originally built in ancient times and reconstructed in 1857, features a massive iron trident that symbolizes the goddess’s power. You can also visit the Shakti Temple, located opposite Vishwanath Temple.

Uttarkashi Weather: Generally hot during the day in summers, with temperatures ranging from 30°C to 35°C, while the nights are cooler.

Day 04: Uttarkashi – Gangotri – Uttarkashi (100kms/3-4 each side) | Height: 3048 MTS

After an early breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Gangotri. On the way, stop at Gangnani, where you can take a holy dip in the natural hot springs of Garam Kund. Continue your journey through the beautiful Harsil Valley, known for its dense deodar forests and mountain views. On arrival at Gangotri, take a sacred bath in the Bhagirathi River (Ganges) and visit the Gangotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Ganga. After performing the rituals and offering prayers, spend some time soaking in the serenity of the surroundings before heading back to Uttarkashi in the evening.

Gangotri Weather: During summer, temperatures range from 10°C to 20°C. Light woolens are recommended even in summer, while winters are extremely cold and snowy.

Day 05: Uttarkashi – Guptkashi (220kms/8-9hr) | Height: 1319 MTS

Post breakfast, leave for Guptkashi via Moolgarh and Lambgoan. En route, you will catch a glimpse of the beautiful Mandakini River at Tilwara. The Mandakini originates from Kedarnath and flows along the road to Guptkashi, a historic town known for the Ardh Narishwar Temple, which you can visit on arrival. Afterward, check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day relaxing and preparing for the trek to Kedarnath.

Guptkashi Weather: Summer temperatures are between 25°C to 30°C, with pleasant weather. Winters can be quite cold.

Day 06: Guptkashi – Kedarnath | 30kms by road & 19kms trek (one way) | Height: 3384 MTS

After an early breakfast, drive to Sonprayag, where you will either begin your trek or take a helicopter to Kedarnath (subject to pre-booking). If trekking, take a local jeep from Sonprayag to Gaurikund and then trek the 19 km route to Kedarnath, passing through stunning mountain vistas. Upon arrival in Kedarnath, visit the sacred Kedarnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, and participate in the evening aarti.

Kedarnath Weather: Summer temperatures hover around 18°C, while winters are extremely harsh with temperatures often dropping to 0°C.

Day 07: Kedarnath – Guptkashi | 19kms trek & 30kms by road

After attending the morning prayers at Kedarnath Temple, trek back down to Sonprayag. Your driver will be waiting to take you back to Guptkashi. Enjoy a relaxed evening after the trek and explore the nearby areas if time permits.

Day 08: Guptkashi – Piplekoti (160kms/7hr) | Height: 3133 MTS

Post breakfast, drive to Piplekoti, a picturesque town surrounded by lush greenery. Check into your hotel upon arrival and relax. Piplekoti is a peaceful retreat that serves as a stopover for pilgrims en route to Badrinath.

Day 09: Piplekoti – Badrinath – Piplekoti (40kms/1hr each way)

After breakfast, drive to Badrinath, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in India. On arrival, take a holy dip in the Tapt Kund (hot springs) before entering the Badrinath Temple. The temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is situated amidst the majestic backdrop of the Neelkanth Peak. After darshan, visit Mana Village, the last Indian village before Tibet, and explore nearby attractions such as Vyas Gufa and Bhim Pul. Return to Piplekoti in the evening.

Badrinath Weather: Summer temperatures range from 8°C to 18°C, while winters are cold with frequent snowfall.

Day 10: Piplekoti – Haridwar (60kms/2hr)

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive back to Haridwar. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at the Haridwar railway station or airport for your onward journey, marking the end of your Chardham Yatra.
